ABOUT

Combinations of visual forms that create sheltered, opened and cluttered or spacious interiors help to develop a design concept. Having studied Interior Architecture and Design at the University of Portsmouth I have been able to demonstrate my appreciation for interior design generally by showcasing forms within a space using a design concept and narrative to further improve the design for the intended client. Many of these projects undertaken at the university are live projects allowing me a greater understanding for the work that is undertaken by a professional.

Researching and experimenting with sets of colour, materials, existing furniture, furniture design and sound have enabled me to create a predetermined atmosphere throughout the interior spaces. Functional, ergonomic and safety needs to all users have been incorporated into the designs to allow a more comfortable and productive environment. Researching the site and how the design concepts benefit the brand image and the community economically are key issues when trying to deliver a successful design that have been covered throughout projects.

The design processes include analysing a building, its site and context and judging how my discoveries have impacted a design proposal and applying relevant findings to concepts and design. Evaluating the needs of a selected client and the relationship to the project site has allowed me to substantiate a project brief through the design proposal and to refine the chosen design. Design concepts have been informed using representation and communication skills using a variety of programs including AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Artlantis.
